World Hemophilia Day is an international awareness day for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. It is held annually on April 17.
✍️The date of 17th April was chosen to honor Frank Schnabel, the founder of World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), whose birthday falls on the same date.
📌The theme for World Hemophilia Day in 2023 is “Access for All: Partnership. Policy. Progress”.
🩺Since 1989, World Hemophilia Day is the day the whole bleeding disorders community comes together to celebrate the continuous advances in treatment while raising awareness and bringing understanding and attention to the issues related to proper care to the wider public.
📊Today, there are up to 400,000 patients with hemophilia in the world.
🩸Hemophilia is a condition in which bleeding is prolonged. It is a condition present from birth and is normally inherited; you can’t catch hemophilia or pass it onto others.
